2009 was Darwin’s Bicentenary. It was decided that his college rooms at Christ’s College Cambridge should be reinstated to show how Charles Darwin lived from 1828- 31. As the senior curator on the project I researched student life and furnishings, had fabrics made to order, shopped for antiques, hand stitched curtains and oversaw paint analysis in order to bring the rooms back to a state the young Darwin would recognise.
